General Motors Fun Facts:

  • From Horse Power to . . . Horse Power! General Motors was founded by William C. Durant in 1908. Starting Capital: $2,000. Durant was the owner of Durant-Dort Carriage Company, the largest U.S. carriage-manufacturer (producing over 100,000 horse-drawn carriages per year).
  • Durant increased the GM brand by purchasing the Buick, Cadillac, Oldsmobile and and Oakland companies (Oakland became Pontiac).
  • The Electrovan by GMControl Issues: Durant lost control of General Motors after two years, regained control six years after that - and then lost the company for good four years later. GM is now a publicly traded company (with over 610,500,000 shares outstanding).
  • The Lunar Rover was manufactured by GM (and first used for the Apollo 15 mission).
  • GM cars and trucks are the top-selling foreign-made vehicles in China (they just love Buicks!).

"Fantastic Group!"

I took my car to them for some repair work. They called around with the VIN number and found out it was still under warranty. Not only that, but they took it to the dealership, managed the entire process, got my car back in record time....AND DIDN'T CHARGE ME A PENNY! That's what a professional company does when it puts it's customers first. Thanks guys!"

"Highly Recommend"

"The owner and staff here are honest, friendly and very knowledgable! The owner, being a master mechanic himself, is always on site and there to assist the other mechanics or the front desk at any given time to make sure the customers are happy and their vehicles are well taken care of. They aren't pushy and don't try to sell you extra things you don't need, but they will advise you if they are sincerely concerned about something. . . I never have to worry about the quality of work performed. I highly recommend this place."

"Impressed with the Service and the Repairs"

"I've been looking for a local repair shop with reasonable rates and more importantly, one which I feel I can trust and respect their advice. I think I've found it, after many "hit and miss" attempts elsewhere. My Mercedes is well past the warranty period and my husband I keep weighing the advantages and disadvantages of selling it...we just may keep it a while longer now that we have located a local shop we feel will provide excellent service. We found it by chance, so I'm glad to recommend it in the hope their positive recommendations keep them busy! A selfish motive, yes, but I wouldn't bother with a recommendation if I didn't honestly think they were a good place to repair my car."

"We trust Smith Specialty Completely!"

"We found Dave's shop over 5 years ago and have never gone anywhere else with our cars! We know that we get straight answers and they get the job done! We are so thankful for a car repair place that is honest and has integrity!! Keep up the good work! "

"Quick and Reasonable"

"I'm not from this area and choosing an auto repair shop without word of mouth recommendation is challenging. I based my decision to go to Smith specialty on reviews and a desire to find a family owned location. I was not disappointed. I brought my car in at 7:30 am and was ready to go by 11. They did a great job of keeping me informed of what was going on and was treated with respect. I will definitely be back!"

"This shop was able to solve a very unusual problem that had eluded several other places. As a result, plan to do more work there. "
